Resolving conflict one step and one person at a time

Mediator Training

Our annual Mediator Training Course provides those wishing to serve as mediators with the basic preparation necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the Dispute Resolution Programs Act, Bus & PC §§465-471.5 and California Judicial Council. Completion of the course also provides eligibility statewide to become court-approved mediators. Must attend all 4 days to receive a certificate of completion and MCLE certificate. MCLE credit provider is the Ventura County Bar Association.

Click for Communication bachelor's degree program
In this course, you will develop an understanding of conflict and will practice techniques to creatively and effectively resolve it. You will move beyond lectures and learn through simulation exercises, group discussions, demonstrations and analysis. The skills you build will be beneficial in developing assertiveness, dealing with complaints, effectively delegating and supervising, and managing difficult people. Learn to use strategies of cooperation, compromise and collaboration. This unique skill set will enhance your career opportunities. VCDS also offers immediate opportunities to gain mediation experience in Ventura County.

Among our many diverse trainers, VCDS' lead trainer is Dr. Tracylee Clarke, CSUCI Communications professor and an adjunct professor teaching communication and conflict management courses at Pepperdine University.
